About the Cover

Cover Figure

Dolomitic platform limestones of the Cretaceous Qamchuca Formation overlying the marly basinal limestones of the Sarmord Formation in the Gali Ali Bag valley in Iraqi Kurdistan. These dolomitic limestones form reservoirs in the Kirkuk, Jumbour and Bai-Hassan fields of northern Iraq and are characterized by intergranular and mouldic porosities; reservoir quality improves in the dolomitic parts. This Formation is equivalent to the Mauddud and Shuaiba Fms of the Middle East (see Table 1, Ehrenberg et al. (pp. 307–318). Photo courtesy of Adnan A.M. Aqrawi, StatoilHydro ASA, Norway.
